Thug Kitchen

Have you heard of Thug Kitchen? According to the New York Daily News, the unexpectedly vegan food blog, which presents recipes with tough-talking descriptions and plenty of obscenities, has just gotten a cookbook deal. The site is written anonymously, but has gained major traction in the past year. After a shout-out from Gwyneth Paltrow and getting named the best new blog by Saveur magazine, the blog has more than 342,000 Facebook fans and over 35,000 Twitter followers. When announcing the cookbook deal to fans, Thug Kitchen wrote, "THE THUG KITCHEN COOKBOOK IS OFFICIALLY F---ING HAPPENING. There will be a s---load of new recipes and photos that we're cooking up just for the book. Rodale will be handling the U.S. publishing and House of Anansi is covering Canada. Right now we're talking to the UK, so trust that the book will be across the godd*mn globe."

Zoe Bain
7-second life story: I was pre-med in college, until I realized that I could turn baking my problems away (instead of doing my chem homework) into a profession.
Hometown: Los Angeles
3 things I make better than anyone else: Pancakes (they are a Sunday morning staple for the Bain family), cookie dough (I will take the raw stuff over just-out-of-the-oven cookies any day), chili
Recipe I'm on the eternal hunt for: The easiest-ever, throw-together soup that I still have time to make after work
Kitchen technique I just can't get right: Poaching eggs. I swirl the water, just like everyone says I should, but it never works. #fail
